Matching communicative functions is an official four-item reading task; it asks what a statement does in context.
A way to approach it
Identify the act, not just shared words: is it a proposal, objection, reason or conclusion? Track the writer’s stance.
Final check
Find a short textual clue for every match; similar vocabulary alone is not evidence.
Practise with the official sample
Try the TestDaF-Institut sample before reading its explanation. Compare your answers with the key and, where available, the transcript. Record why each mistake occurred and rehearse with a timer because the digital test does not let you return to a previous task.
