The Goethe-Institut’s 2025 adult model exam for A2 shows the task types of the real exam. The point of a mock is not just a score but finding which part is at risk against the 45-point written and 15-point oral minimums.
Realistic practice
- Do Reading, Listening and Writing back to back without breaks.
- Don’t pause the audio; only parts 1 and 4 are heard twice.
- In Writing, aim for 20–30 words in part 1 and 30–40 in part 2.
- For Speaking, record the card questions (part 1), talking about yourself (part 2) and planning a meeting (part 3) with a partner.
Working out your result
| Section | Calculation | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Reading | Correct × 1.25 | 20 correct = 25 |
| Listening | Correct × 1.25 | 20 correct = 25 |
| Writing | Two tasks, up to 20 × 1.25 | Three content points per task |
| Written total | Reading + Listening + Writing | At least 45 |
| Speaking | Up to 25 | At least 15 |
After the mock
- If your written total is below 45, focus on the weakest written section first; a strong oral score won’t save it.
- Check whether you spotted the “X” item (the person with no ad) in Reading part 4.
- Give each mistake a cause code: vocabulary, number/time, wrong person, negation.
- Re-test with a different set a week later.
A high score on a memorised set does not show progress.
