Goethe A2 Writing Phrases: Ready-Made Redemittel for the Text Message and Email

Goethe A2 Writing lasts 30 minutes and consists of two short texts: a 20–30-word text message to a friend and a 30–40-word email to a semi-formal contact. Each task has three content points, and you need to cover all three. This page gives ready-made German phrases for each content point, two word-counted sample texts and the points where marks are lost.

Do not mix du forms (deine, hast du) into an email written with Sie; register errors lower the task score.

What the raters look at
- Task completion: are all three functions (e.g. apology, reason, suggestion) covered and is the form of address right for the situation?
- Coherence: are sentences linked with und, aber, denn, weil?
- Vocabulary and structures: enough range for A2 and mistakes that do not block understanding.
- If task completion is rated E (0), the whole task scores 0; the other criteria cannot make up for it.
The minimum word count is critical; going slightly over the maximum does not by itself zero the task, but extra length adds risk of mistakes.
