Goethe B1 Reading Part 4: Reader Comments and Yes/No
Updated: 13 October 2026 · Checked against official exam sources
In the official B1 adult model, Reading Part 4 has seven reader comments (20–26) on a magazine article; for each person you mark Ja or Nein to one question, such as whether they support a ban. The suggested time is 15 minutes.
A way to approach it
Fix the question once, then look in each comment for the sentence that shows the writer's final stance. What follows words like aber, trotzdem and allerdings often carries the real opinion.
Final check
Acknowledging a problem is not the same as answering yes: a writer may admit the issue exists and still be against the proposal. Confirm every decision with a sentence from the comment.
Practise with the official sample
Take the relevant part of the Goethe-Institut adult model set to its official time. Use the key for Reading and Listening and the published criteria for Writing and Speaking. In your next attempt, measure whether the same error recurs.
