Last updated: 27 August 2026 · Verified against official sources
The Speaking module takes about 15 minutes for two candidates, with 15 minutes of individual preparation. The aim is not a memorised script but clear, sustained interaction with a partner.
The three tasks
| Task | What you do | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Plan an activity with a partner | Suggest, negotiate and respond |
| 2 | Choose and present a topic | Structure, experience, opinion and reasons |
| 3 | Discuss both presentations | Ask and answer questions |
Use preparation well
- Write keywords, not a full script.
- Build the talk as opening, example, opinion and conclusion.
- Practise accepting, declining and offering alternatives.
- Dictionaries and phones are not allowed.
What matters in assessment
Task achievement, vocabulary and structures, pronunciation and fluency all matter. A long monologue does not replace interaction.
