Goethe B1 Speaking Samples: Planning Dialogue, Presentation and Feedback

The conversations below are samples written by Zertifly; they are not taken from the official model exam. They show the flow of the three Goethe B1 Speaking parts: planning together in part 1 (about 2–3 min), a five-slide presentation in part 2 (3–4 min per candidate) and feedback with a question in part 3 (1–2 min per candidate).
Part 1 – planning together (sample dialogue)
A: Wir sollen ja einen Ausflug für unseren Kurs planen. Wie wäre es mit Samstag? – B: Samstag passt mir leider nicht, da arbeite ich. Was hältst du von Sonntag? – A: Gut, dann Sonntag. Wohin könnten wir fahren? Ich schlage den See vor, da kann man auch picknicken. – B: Gute Idee, aber wenn es regnet? – A: Dann gehen wir ins Museum in der Altstadt. – B: Einverstanden. Wer kümmert sich um das Essen? – A: Das kann ich übernehmen. Und du fragst, wer mitkommt? – B: Mache ich. Also: Sonntag zum See, bei Regen ins Museum.
- Both candidates suggest, react and give reasons.
- They find an alternative for a problem (rain) and share tasks.
- A short summary at the end makes the decision clear.
Part 2 – presentation (sample)
Folie 1: Ich spreche heute über das Thema „Homeoffice – ja oder nein?“. Folie 2: Ich habe selbst zwei Jahre von zu Hause gearbeitet. Folie 3: In meinem Heimatland arbeiten vor allem Menschen in Büros im Homeoffice, in kleinen Firmen ist es noch selten. Folie 4: Ein Vorteil ist, dass man keine Zeit im Verkehr verliert. Ein Nachteil ist, dass man die Kollegen weniger sieht. Folie 5: Für mich ist eine Mischung am besten: zwei Tage zu Hause, drei Tage im Büro. Vielen Dank fürs Zuhören.
- Each of the five slides is covered in order: topic, personal experience, situation in your country, pros and cons, conclusion.
- Transitions are short and clear and do not sound read out.
- To fill 3–4 minutes, add one or two example sentences per slide.
Part 3 – feedback and question (sample)
Feedback: Vielen Dank für deine Präsentation. Besonders interessant fand ich, wie du die Situation in deinem Land beschrieben hast. – Frage: Glaubst du, dass Homeoffice auch für Berufsanfänger gut ist? – Antwort: Gute Frage. Ich denke, am Anfang ist es wichtig, viel im Büro zu sein, damit man die Kollegen kennenlernt.
- Positive, specific feedback first, then a question about the content.
- The answer links directly to the question and includes a reason.
Don’t memorise the dialogues; the topic will be different in the exam. Rehearse the flow and phrases with your own content.
