The Goethe-Zertifikat B2 has four independent skill modules. Each module is graded separately, so a strong result in one module cannot offset a failed result in another.
What happens in the four modules?

How scoring works
Each module is scored out of 100 and is passed with at least 60 points. The official ratings are pass for 60–69, satisfactory for 70–79, good for 80–89 and very good for 90–100.
Because the exam is modular, you can register for individual modules. Availability, price and delivery mode depend on the exam centre, so check the centre before booking.
How to prepare
- Complete a timed mock for every module.
- Practise both Writing text types.
- In Speaking, train reasons, follow-up questions and interaction instead of memorised monologues.
- Ask the receiving institution whether it needs one module or proof of all four skills.
