Coherence is an official Goethe B2 writing criterion that assesses how sentences and paragraphs connect into a clear line of thought.
A way to approach it
Develop one main idea per paragraph. Use connectors to show cause, contrast or result rather than as decoration.
Final check
Read the text through and revise any point where you cannot explain why one sentence follows another.
Practise with the official sample
Take the relevant part of the Goethe-Institut adult model set to its official time. Use the key for Reading and Listening and the published criteria for Writing and Speaking. In your next attempt, measure whether the same error recurs.
