Appealing a telc B1 Result and Requesting a Review

telc provides three distinct routes: an Einspruch for a breach of examination rules, a paid Ergebnisüberprüfung to review the reported result, and an Einsichtnahme to inspect your answer sheet in person. Their purposes and deadlines differ.

When to use an Einspruch
You may make a reasoned appeal if the valid examination regulations were breached. Simply failing to reach a desired score is not a sufficient reason.
Record the date, time, room, sequence of events, the rule or instruction affected, and any witnesses factually. Submit it in text form through telc's designated web form.
The risk of a result review
A review does not guarantee a higher score. If a new assessment occurs, the revised result is irreversible and may be lower.
If the result changes, a new result document is issued and the review fee is refunded. The current fee is €40. You can apply once within six weeks of the result document's issue date.
What inspection provides
Within three months you can request personal inspection of your answer sheet. No substitute may attend, copies or photographs are prohibited, and no advisory conversation is provided.
Inspection is not itself a re-mark. The regulations state that result-determining materials are retained for four months after results are announced, so act within the applicable deadline.
