telc B1 Reading Part 2: Detailed Understanding and a/b/c Items

telc Deutsch B1 Reading part 2 tests detailed reading: you read a longer press text and choose a, b or c in five items numbered 6–10. Each item is again worth 5 points, so the five items total 25 points. The options often reuse words from the text but change the meaning through one small detail.
How the task works
- The text is usually a newspaper or magazine article; Übungstest 1 uses a press text about a social project.
- Each item is a sentence opening or question; only one of the three options fully matches the text.
- Wrong options attach true information from the text to the wrong person, time or amount.
A method for reading details
- Read the item first and mark the key word (who, when, how many, why).
- Find the relevant place in the text and read the whole paragraph; do not stop at one word.
- Compare each option with the text: negation (nicht, kein), limiting words (nur, erst) and conditions (wenn) are common traps.
- Do not choose an option you cannot back up with a sentence in the text.
Original example (not official)
Text: „Der Verein Nachbarschaftshilfe Ost sucht neue Mitglieder. Wer mitmacht, hilft älteren Menschen beim Einkaufen oder begleitet sie zum Arzt. Geld bekommt man dafür nicht, aber der Verein übernimmt die Fahrtkosten. Vorkenntnisse sind nicht nötig; ein kurzer Einführungskurs ist Pflicht.“ – Aufgabe: Die Helferinnen und Helfer … a) bekommen einen kleinen Lohn. · b) müssen vorher einen Kurs besuchen. · c) brauchen Erfahrung in der Pflege.
The answer is b: 'ein kurzer Einführungskurs ist Pflicht'. Option a is wrong because no money is paid, only travel costs; option c is wrong because no prior knowledge is needed.
