telc Deutsch B2 has a written and an oral part worth 300 points in total. The written exam covers reading, language elements, listening and writing; the oral exam has three tasks with a partner. This guide shows the same question types as the official mock exam, with their point weights.

The oral exam
- Taken in pairs: 20 minutes’ preparation, about 15 minutes’ exam.
- Part 1: talking about an experience or topic.
- Part 2: discussing a point of view.
- Part 3: planning something together.
- Criteria: range of expression, task management, accuracy, pronunciation and intonation.
How to use sample questions
- Take the official mock exam in one sitting, including the 90-minute reading block.
- Allow about 10 minutes to transfer answers; that time is part of the 90 minutes.
- Don’t pause the audio; each telc text is heard once.
- Weigh your attention: each item in Reading 1–2 and Listening 1 and 3 is worth 5 points.
According to the official sources, dictionaries are not allowed at any point in the exam.
