Goethe A1 for Candidates with Special Needs

Goethe offers accessible arrangements from A1 to C2. They are individual, not automatic: disclose the need at registration, provide suitable evidence and agree the modification with the centre in writing.
Who may request arrangements?
- Blind or visually impaired; deaf or hearing impaired candidates.
- Permanent or temporary motor disability.
- Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD or autism spectrum disorder.
- Speech disorders and combined needs.
Possible measures

| Writing/motor | Extra time, assistance-free computer, scribe |
| Dyslexia/ADHD | 25–100% extra time according to evidence |
| Speech | Appropriate consideration of impairment in oral grading |
These are possible individual measures, not a guaranteed standard package.
Process
- Contact the centre before selecting a date.
- Declare the need during registration.
- Submit the requested medical or equivalent evidence.
- Agree the modification in writing after consultation.
- A need first disclosed during or after the exam cannot be applied retrospectively.
Equivalence and privacy
The arrangement must enable assessment, preserve equivalent content and avoid unfair advantage. The centre must keep the information confidential; approved modifications are not shown on the certificate.

Goethe provides interactive accessible A1 practice with immediate right/wrong feedback. Actual exam arrangements still require a separate agreement with the centre.
