Many A1 points are lost through incomplete task fulfilment, not advanced grammar. This guide turns the official Start Deutsch 1 task structure into a diagnostic checklist; it is not a promise of passing.
Listening
- Not reading options before the audio.
- Choosing the first number or time and missing a correction or negation.
- Expecting Part 2 to repeat.
- Translating every word instead of listening for the requested detail.
Reading
- Selecting an option only because it repeats a word.
- Missing negation and restrictions such as geschlossen or außer.
- Ignoring who, when and under what condition an advert fits.
- Spending too long on one task in the 25-minute section.
Writing
- Copying details into the wrong form field.
- Failing to cover all three content points in the short text.
- Omitting greeting/closing or mixing du and Sie.
- Using a memorised text without adapting it to the prompt.
Speaking
- Giving only a name in Part 1.
- Repeating the card word instead of asking a question in Part 2.
- Naming an object instead of making and answering a request in Part 3.
- Stopping after a small error; intelligible communication matters more than perfection at A1.
