There is no single worldwide price for the Goethe-Zertifikat B2: the fee varies by country and exam centre. Because the exam is modular, each module is priced separately, and taking all four together usually works out cheaper in total.
How the fee is set
- The price is set by the individual Goethe-Institut branch or licensed exam centre, and branches in the same country can differ.
- There are two separate prices: per module and for all four modules together.
- Some centres offer a reduced rate to their own course participants.
- Whether the digital and paper formats cost the same depends on the centre.
Always confirm the current figure on the page of the centre where you will sit the exam; third-party lists are usually out of date.
Registration steps
- Pick a date and format (paper or digital) from the centre's exam calendar.
- Decide whether you are taking all four modules or just one.
- Register online or in person, making sure your details match your passport or ID exactly.

- A few days before the exam, check the time, room and module order given on your invitation.
Places usually fill up weeks in advance, so check the calendar at least two months before your target date.
