telc Deutsch B1 vs telc B1 Schule

B1 Schule is not an easier B1. It is a separate exam at the same CEFR B1 level, using topics and communication settings suited to school-age learners.

Difficulty level
Both certificates demonstrate B1. The Schule version adapts vocabulary and topics to learners' interests; it does not lower the assessment target to A2.
Do not assume every adult can book Schule or every learner should book general B1. Ask the centre about its eligibility conditions.
Tasks and partial exams
B1 Schule also has three Reading, two Sprachbausteine, three Listening, one Writing and three Speaking parts. It provides 20 minutes of oral preparation.
Its official page says it can be taken as a partial examination.
Before booking
- Confirm that the receiving institution accepts B1 Schule.
- Ask the centre about age or school-status conditions.
- Prepare with the Zertifikat Deutsch für Jugendliche / telc Deutsch B1 Schule mock.
