What does mediation mean?

DTB asks you not only to understand information but to relay it appropriately to another person in a workplace context. Its official page identifies mediation elements in Reading and Listening.

Classic B1 instead has a separate Sprachbausteine subtest and a general everyday email.

Who is DTB B1 for?

The DTB series forms the final examinations for vocational language courses under section 45a of Germany's Residence Act and was developed for BAMF.

Course access, funding and an authority's certificate acceptance are separate administrative questions; confirm them with the responsible body.

Preparation material

  • Use the official DTB B1 mock, not a general B1 mock.
  • Practise its integrated-skill tasks under time.
