The dialogues below are samples written by Zertifly; they are not taken from the official telc mock exam. The telc B2 oral exam is taken in pairs: 20 minutes’ preparation and about 15–16 minutes’ exam. Each of the three parts is worth up to 25 points, and you need at least 45 oral points in total.

Part 1 – talking about experience (sample)

– B: Das klingt spannend. Wie viele Stunden pro Woche investierst du? – A: Meistens vier, manchmal mehr, wenn viele Spenden kommen.

  • Topic, personal experience and evaluation follow in order, with reasons.
  • The partner’s question keeps the exchange alive and the answer is concrete.

Part 2 – discussion (sample)

– A: Das mag für Einzelaufgaben stimmen.

  • The claim in the text is reported and partial agreement is justified.
  • Counter-view, example and a compromise; speaking time is balanced.

Part 3 – planning together (sample)

A: Wir sollen ein Abschiedsfest für unsere Kursleiterin organisieren. – A: Einverstanden.

  • Suggestions, objections, alternatives and task sharing are clear.
  • A short summary seals the decision.

telc says the goal is a lively conversation with your partner, not the examiner; don’t memorise the dialogues, rehearse the flow with your own content.
