TestDaF or telc C1 Hochschule?

Both exams are strong evidence for German-medium university study, but they measure performance differently. TestDaF reports four separate TDN 3–5 results. telc C1 Hochschule awards a C1 certificate through written and live oral components.
Are both accepted for university admission?
Under the KMK framework, TestDaF with at least TDN 4 in every subtest proves academic language ability; a passed telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule certificate is also listed among exempting certificates. The university still decides the exact result required.
Important: Check the current Zulassungsordnung for your exact programme before booking. A programme may require TDN 5 in a skill, another certificate or an additional condition.

Record both. Can you structure a response in 90 seconds for TestDaF? Can you defend it when challenged in the telc version? Decide from performance, not from claims that one test is simply easier.
Validate the decision with real tasks
If you lean toward TestDaF, start timed microphone practice early; format comfort directly affects performance.
